Hey everyone! You won’t believe it, but the future is officially here. Google just rolled out its traditional list of “Favorite Chrome Extensions” for 2025, and if last year we saw a mix of tools, this year the trend is singular and undeniable — Artificial Intelligence is everywhere.
I’ve taken a close look at their selection, and here is what Google considers “must-haves” for us this year. Spoiler alert: the browser isn’t just a window to the internet anymore; it’s a full-blown personal assistant.
Your New AI Browsing Companions
The first category covers what Google calls “AI browsing companions.” It’s all about doing less and achieving more.
- Monica and Sider — These two literally stole the show. They are all-in-one powerhouses that live right in your side panel. Need to chat with a PDF? Easy. Need a summary of a massive article? Done. They integrate multiple models (like Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT) into one interface.
- HARPA AI — For the automation geeks out there, this is gold. It’s not just a chatbot; it’s a hybrid of AI and web automation. It can track price drops, monitor data changes on websites, and build custom workflows for you.
- Quillbot — The veteran that refuses to quit. If you write in English (or any language, really), this remains the top tool for paraphrasing and grammar checking.
Work & Study: Goodbye, Busywork
In this category, Google highlighted tools that genuinely save time, especially if you are drowning in Zoom calls.
- Fireflies.ai and Bluedot — Absolute lifesavers for remote workers. They automatically record meetings, transcribe them, and generate a concise summary. No more frantically taking notes while trying to listen; you can finally just focus on the conversation.
- QuestionAI — A must-have for students. It works like an on-demand tutor, explaining complex concepts in simple language without any judgment.
- eJOY — A fantastic tool for language learners. It turns casual browsing into a lesson: watch videos or read articles, and the extension provides context and translations for new vocabulary instantly.
Creativity & Shopping (Even here, AI helps)
Even in areas that require a “human touch,” technology is taking the lead.
- Adobe Photoshop — Yes, full-blown Photoshop right in the browser. Google is very proud of this partnership. You can edit images on the fly without launching heavy desktop software.
- Phia — Finally, smart shopping. This extension sits in the background and compares prices. If you’re looking at sneakers, Phia tells you where they are cheaper. Google claims it finds the best deals in a single click.
The Verdict
Looking at this list, I realized something: 2025 is the year we stopped “just surfing” the web. Now, the browser is our second brain. I’ve already installed a couple of these (Sider looks particularly promising).
Are you using any of these yet? Let me know in the comments below!
